David Raffel

One of my favorite sayings is from the Talmud: “As my parents planted for me, so too do I plant for those who will come after me.”

My parents — Maurice “Maish” and Harriet Raffel z”l — of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, lived their lives as an example for me to live my own. Their selfless sacrifice, generosity, and leadership symbolized their “greatest generation.” Even though they endured the greatest financial depression in American history, as well as a catastrophic world war, they were undaunted in making a better life for their children, and future generations.

It is their legacy of commitment, determination, and vison which inspires me to also “plant for those who will come after me.”
