Being part of a community and making a difference is so important and my connection to Kansas City and this community has been a mainstay in my life since 1976. One story I share started my giving back. I remember a particular memory of a red coat I wanted as a child, and I planned to do chores to earn the $10 to buy it. I finished the work and my dad pulled out ten $1 bills and put them on the table and said, “Well the first thing we’re going to do is take out a dollar for the synagogue.” Tzedakah is first! We all have the ability to give with time, talents and treasures. Big gestures or small, it all makes an impact. I thank this community for what it has added to my life and wish the best for the future as big or small ripples in the pond.
