Sarah and Peter Beren

The root of the word “philanthropy” is “phil,” meaning “love.” Supporting the Jewish community now and for the future is a powerful expression of the love I feel for my people and this community. Although my husband and I take the obligation of tzedakah very seriously, it is really this love and affection that prompted the decision to create a Lion of Judah Endowment. We are so blessed to be living in this time and in this place; we hope that endowing this gift helps ensure that future generations can enjoy these same blessings.

One of our most fervent prayers for our children is that they grow up to appreciate the blessings of a vibrant Jewish community. We hope that they recognize the sacrifices made and hard work done to secure the present and future of Jewish traditions here in Kansas City and in Israel.
